I was installing my thermostat housing and noticed a crack on the back side of the water pump housing just behind where the bolt for the thermostat housing goes. Will it be ok to use? Not sure if coolant is in that area and will have a leak :thinker:

can get it welded up, or use a bit of "knead it" knead it is a chemical metal that when dries turns hard, you can get it from most hardware stores, or you can buy an aftermarket pump housing cheap enough

T stat housing bolt area shouldn't have any water so you might be OK. Normally you would find the end of the crack and drill it (small hole like 3/32") to stop it from spreading. But you need to examine it very carefully to determine what type of repair to do. As mentioned, new housing or even used isn't that far out of reach.
