In the garage. Under the hood. Again.

Demolition Derby:mad::mad::mad:? WTF?!?!?! Is he out of his freakin' mind:yes:? Quit drinkin' that Lake Erie water Nick;it's f@#$%&g up your thinking.

Yes,I know we're the "B" body forum,but still,it's a Chrysler product. Wrong,I tell ya;just plain wrong.

Well, ...Let's see, ...It's Big, ...It's Heavy,....It's Solid, ...I know it's tough as a Tank, ...It's got Big Block Power, and it has two too many doors ! , I think it would make a Great Derby Car !...I wouldn't spend a nickle to restore it, ...You could easily spend more on this car than it could EVER be worth.

There's a Big difference in RARE and DESIRABLE.

and we don't have Lake Erie water here in the South.

The 413 and push button trans are worth it
someone out there has a Savoy or Dart to max wedge clone

All valid points;I guess that they're some of the reasons that the big Imp's are not allowed in some demo-derby events. Still, aren't there enough Impalas,Crown Vics and other such machinery out there better suited for destruction? That Imperial would make a ******* tow car for an old Mopar drag car.
It looks like some elbow grease could turn that car into a decent
"twenty foot-er".

Demo Derby,my ***...

Yeah, but unless the accelerator sticks an blows the engine those items will still be salvageable after the car is destroyed. The are the only things of REAL value on a donor type car that this is anyway.

Lets not get hung up un the fact that it is an old Chrysler product. I don't see many K car collectors out there either.:D

I should have used some emoticons in a few other places to let it be known that my original post was tongue-in-cheek. I won't lose sleep if it does end up in a d.d.;hell,I'd be cheering it on!

I would nab the engine and trans first, though. No sense in trashing good parts. Throw a 225 in there for the crash-fest;nothing breaks those!

Folks, I wouldn't worry that this car is going to a derby. This is a common sales tactic and that is too threaten selling it to someone that will derby it. I am surprised he didn't threaten sending it to the crusher - another sales tactic to infuriate enthusiasts into either 1) buying the car to save it or 2) talking the car up on related forums increasing its exposure and possibly the chance of a sale.

BTW: I don't know too many derby guys that are going to pay $2500 (or anywhere close to that) for a derby car. Also, if was even serious about it going to a derby person, his description would be completely different (as well as the price).

I Agree, way too pricey for a derby car, the last derby car I bought was a clean 69 Newport with a sweet running 440 for 400 bucks, after thrashing the car I pulled the 440/727 and saved it for future use.

Ok ,,,,,,,, just for arguements sake imps are outlawed at most demoderbys . Very few derbys allow them anymore . How do I know this ? Just ask , I'll tell ya . Now then for the record . I do know that alot of the derby drivers do restore these cars and have them for daily drivers since they can't compete with them anyway.

As for any other car that even came close to competeing with the imps , you'd have to look at the suicide lincolns . At which are fast becoming outlawed aswell.

Chow for now .

You pop the Imp emblems and glue on some old New Yorker emblems, it takes a Mopar Guy to know the Real Deal.

The other thing to consider is the derby guys running the MoPars only like the 318's. They will go through the effort to pull a big block and install a 318 because they say the 318 will run longer without water than just about anything out there. Buy the car and drive it as is.

Nice take on the sales tactic. I guess I'm not enough of a crook to think of that. Hmmm, probably won't be good at politics either :rolling:

How do you know this? :tongueflap:

Also, if I had the money and space, and was a bit older, I'd consider picking it up. It's got a certain chauffeur-istic look that appeals to me. I'm sure someone will save it.

I was thinking it would look great chauffeuring a group of Hooters Girls around.:yes::yes:

Because , I've been there , done that . I know like previously stated how much heat a 318 will take , and you'd be surprised . I know how strong "B" bodies are. Done a few of those too. I know which ones are the strongest also . I know how to do things now swapping parts around to make them work aswell.
