I have never seen this before. The crank gear keyway is indexed about 90 degrees from the balancer keyway. The crank is a billet stroker crank with the 8-bolt design and dual keyways on the front. Does anyone know the reason for this? image.jpgimage.jpg

The balancer keyway is correct and the balancer matches the timing tab for tdc. The degree wheel was the only way to get it right.image.jpg

looks like its got two large keyways, that's usually for blower applications .

Yes you are correct. I have researched that is what it's for. The balancer keyway is 1/4" as well. I cannot understand the reason to offset the crank gear key like that. The new comp timing gear 3-bolt set's timing marks couldn't be used for the crank gear. In the last picture you'll see that the crank gear dot ended up being at the 9 o'clock position once it was degreed properly @ 106. There is actually a 2nd crank gear keyway @ 180 degrees from it too. Strange.. I'm certain others have encountered this. ??

most blower motors don't use balancers and they probably had a gear drive on also so you wouldn't have to line up dots like on a timing chain.

Just have to line up the gear drive markings then with a set that is for an indexed keyway @ .090 off stock.
Thank you.
