Going home about 11.30 last sunday night raining hard and foggy, about 50 mph came over null and there they were, 4 Yearling calves, needless to say, killed two off them and about 8 grand damage to my truck, kinda P.O., trying to find who owns cattle. One hell of a ride over top of them, see cow crap all over fender and hood.

Ouch. Glad your okay and in a vehicle with airbags. I would be looking for the cow owners also... aren't they liable?

Out here in Calif, if you're in an area that has grazing cattle and one is on the road and you hit it, you're liable and the cattle owner can sue you for his loss. The only way you can sue them is if the cattle got out of the grazing area, past the cattle guard and onto public roadways.

If there are any "CATTLE XING" signs on that road... I'd find out first who is liable before you go to the owner. Again, I'm in California - the "Sue Me" state - so maybe that's just what I'm used to out here.

Glad you're okay...

I'd be pissed more, if one of my classics were involved. Count your blessings. No human injury/loss, and a truck with easily replaceable parts.

Sorry to see that. Good to here you are ok. There is a guy down the road from me with a bunch of cows that keep getting out. Almost hit one at night in my Neon. Don't think that little car would of fared as well as your truck. Hope the guy mans up and takes care of it for you.

Sorry to see your accident damage but, like the others stated, at least you were in the right vehicle.Looks like you were able to drive away, hopefully with some A1 road kill in the bed!

Glad you're ok - sorry about your nice Dodge. Hitting animals like that is no joke. We had a car vs deer rescue call on the highway a few years ago. West bound car hit the deer, deer flew up in the air, east bound car slammed into it windshield first. Occupants were hurt - not seriously, though. Deer came partially through the windshield. We had to cut them out with the Jaws. Decapitated the deer and there was deer crap all over the car inside and out.

If you have COMPREHENSIVE coverage on your insurance policy, this damage is covered... it's not collision. Just be greateful you're OK... that's the most important thing !

Every time I hit a deer I hang it in the barn!
