Does anybody have an uninstalled 426 crossram available who can answer a question for me? I'm trying to ascertain whether or not there is any interconnection, or common plenum, between the two carburetors, without removing mine to look at it. It's been years since I had mine off and I can't remember. I'm interested in using two Fi-Tech F/I throttle bodies and have been told by them that there needs to be an internal connection between the carburetor flanges for the F/I to work properly. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hey Coloradodave, I'm watching for the answer to your question as well. I was thinking Fitech might be in my future for my crossram too.

I no longer have one laying around, but I don't believe they do. Would carb spacers with taps on them and a hose connecting the two work? If hood clearance is tight, you could tap closer to the floor of each plenum and skip the spacers.

you might ask fi-tech if the interconnection needs to be a certain cubic inch volume or if you just need a balance tube.

I just checked mine that I bought from A&A and yes there is a interconnection. Good luck

aldal: Any chance I could get you to post a picture showing the connection? I've removed the carbs and looked with a small mirror and light but can't see. Guess I could buy a boroscope from H/F and check. I have plenty of hood clearance since I have 1" spacers under the carbs and a 64-65 Hemi scoop. Thought of your idea too, 64post. Seems like this is unchartered territory for Kirk at Fi-Tech. Thanks for the input, lewtot. I will email them and ask.

I kicked around the idea of a twin turbo, fi, x-ram maxie years ago just in case a big bag of money fell out of an armored car.

Good Luck on your status as guinea pig.

I apologize coloradodave mine is a 426 Hemi Crossram not the 426 Wedge Crossram....sorry about my mistake.

I have a stage l (3447) stage ll (3705) and both have NO interconnect .
Left carb feeds right bank & right carb feeds left bank.

i was looking at an old direct connection engine manual and they show what looks like a factory interconnection. the illustration in the manual makes reference to the s/s racers increasing the cross sectional area for what i believe to be more top end power. the old long rams used an interconnection/balance tube. i don't think the old edelbrock type log rams had any interconnection or balance tube.

Interesting...I was looking at my DC Bulletin #34 and it definitely shows an interconnection on the factory RB crossram. Here's the diagram: As to 1962polara, maybe the connection is internal and not visible from the underside, since they say you need to cut and fab if you want to increase the size of the connection. I guess a boroscope is in my future...

pretty sure the hump/raised part between the two plenums is the interconnection; not visible from the inside.

Thanks, Lew. Waiting to hear from Kirk at Fi-Tech. Think I'll pop for the boroscope just for fun.

there's two metal plugs on top the manifold, just pop one out.

There you go; always the voice of reason, lew. Different mirror, stronger light and that "hump" (approx. 3'4"H X 2"W) is definitely an interconnection from one carburetor plenum to the other. Didn't see it at the first look-see because it's on the roof of the manifold, inside. Will be ordering the Fuel Control Center and the GO EFI 2X4 625HP Dual Quad N/A set-up tomorrow. Thanks again for everyone's input, and especially to lewtot.

I hope you keep us informed on your install and experience.

Well there you go I stand corrected, sorry for the 'bum steer'.
I'm interested in your journey also:thumbsup:

No sweat, 1962polara; I was mistaken once. I think it was in 1965. Oh, wait. I actually was right...lol. Actually, I have always believed that the carbs each fed one bank so I happily learned something too.
I ordered the FCC and the dual quad throttle bodies today from Johnny at Pace Performance. They're about 4-5 weeks out. Got the 5% FBBO discount (thanks Joey) and free shipping. I'll let you all know how this experience goes.

well? I'm watching this and hope your able to keep us updated
