Has anybody seen any 71-2 RR custom body mods out there anywhere? Or any RR body mods really. Just looking for some ideas. I have a couple of subtle changes in mind for mine and I was looking for some inspiration or ideas from others before I pull the trigger. I have seen Foose do a couple old Mopars and the winged cars but nothing else really. Anybody have any ideas or pics others have done? I want to be subtle and careful, because that is one of my favorite body styles to begin with but I would like to see anything from mild to wild for inspiration. Thanks, Chris

Not many in my collection of 71-72's GTX or RR's or even body mod.'s on Satellites or Sport Sebrings that have really any body mods but a couple race cars, I threw in a couple of "King" Richard Petty's, great looken' RR & couple F/C's for the heck of it... you said "mild to wild"... the body lines are so good you really don't need to do anything, spoiler & wing, maybe 2 tone paint, stripes, strobes, proper wheels & tires/low stance etc.

this is the only mod (for now) that I plan to add as a functional scoop

Thanks guys. Keep the pics coming. I'm thinking of subtly changing the lines. Just enough that it will stand out, but the average non mopar person would think it was from the factory that way. I thought about adding a shaker hood if I could find a set up cheap enough worth cutting. Anyone seen this? Or has anybody ever used a modern challenger shaker from the junkyard? Of course, the air grabber is in my opinion a sharp looking option, but it is so darned expensive, I don't now that it is worth it. I will spend out the butt if I get a truly wow idea, but if it is something that looks ok but everyone has, it's not worth the dough to me.

Btw Budniks, you have offered something up for most of my posts in one form or another. I really do appreciate that. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and welcome. Lol. Now everybody, keep the pics coming. Surely there are a few more cars with body line changes out there. Does not even have to be a 71-2. I could get some further inspiration from other years. Thanks

Your welcome, when I see something I may be able to contribute to, I chime in, especially on 68-71 Charger & RR threads, until someone just pisses me off...LOL... you seem receptive & polite, I'm glad to help... Happy Moparing

I am a big fan of Pam and Gary's cars too, always have been. I must admit that I have seen most of those all before, but that El Camino style RR was definately a first. Not as bad as the Van, but definately different. If it makes anyone feel better though, I believe the RR van is just a photochop job. Thank Goodness! LOL. Come on guys, I know there are some pretty unique and talented body men out there. Are none of the custom body guys going to show off their work?

I`m with you on the wheels djais1801 all the money on the car and nothing for wheels

aren't those the ultra rare Kelsey Hayse wheels I saw a set for sale for a ton of money like $6500 for a set of 4 NOS... not my favorite but seen much worse too, IIRC I think they were the ones that were recalled, because of breakages/failures...

I don't know I can not like the rims. It looks like they were going for a "what if" kind of look that the factory could have done. I can easily see that in production and I know they would have used steel wheels at that time(and those give that appearance anyway). They went to the trouble to match the rims with the body, the style and the color combo. I kinda like it. It's a little less resto mod and more of a "Factory Alternative". If that phrase catches on, I want credit for it btw. Lol

71 RR is a timeless legendary design. Stripes, scoop, wheels are one thing. Body lines already too nice to mess with. Foose would not touch my car if he paid me.

See, I'm kinda different there. If I had a 69, I wouldn't let Foose touch it. I have always felt the 71-2 body, although definately my favorite, screams that it has even more potential. Of course, when I saw Britanny Spears when she was younger in that "Hit Me Baby" video, I thought she was going to turn out awesome.... We all know what changing those body lines did for her! LOL

That orange one with no front bumper is kind of cool.

A front spoiler just for the open area on valance could be good.

If you want to go extreme, section off the bottom under the side body line. That might need the front seats dropped back so far though that it basically makes the back seat useless, but then maybe you could also shorten it into a 2 seater.

It'd probably be better on a drag car, but how bout a hood scoop that looks like an Acme detonator box or anvil.
