need some help, I want to use mopar cast cyl heads for a 440 I have cross ram for either cyl heads.
My questions is witch head is better, the max wedge head or the 906 or other casting #
iam not using aluiminum heads..

Thanks

kinda depends on what you are doing. For my money in a street car....440 heads with good prep work. For balls out high rpm use, maxie all the way. The smaller intake ports of 440 cast iron heads will be a lot more street friendly and probably more fun to drive.

The Max heads are based on the old design and have a flat intake port floor. They are just big 516 heads. Sure they will flow more air but probably don't wet flow very well compared to a set of worked over 915's or 906's. I ran a MW on the street and it was fine - cross ram and all. Also keep in mind MW heads have a large volume chamber even that they are a closed chamber head. I believe it's the tulip intake valve that is responsible for the added CC's.

915 and 906 are pretty much identical except the obvious chamber difference. If you want about .4 points of compression increase on the 3.75" stroke motor then use the 915's, but keep in mind these are pretty hard to find as they are a two year only head.
