What kind of readings are you guys getting on the naturaly aspirated engines?
I have domed .140" pistons and 75cc combustion chambers with the Mopar .590" lift cam and 1.6 ratio rockers. My readings were with cyl's dry and not with engine warmed up and read around 190psi. It's tough to tell because the overlap of the cam made it bounce from 190 or so to 185 at the peak. Is this pretty close to what you guys are getting with higher comp engines? They are all exactly the same readings too "except for the two that had bad exh valves, being replaced today"....
Just curious!!!
Thanks:VB toast:

All these reads and no replies? Is it a secret or something?

My 440 is blowing 190 PSI but I have much less cam and flat top pistons.

That doesn't look too bad. Not sure where your at compression wise. Also take into consideration that the rings are not fully seated yet.
Another huge factor is your guage... I've see 3 different guages read 4 different numbers.. LOL

What does your leak down test read?

190psi across the board is very good.People don't normally reply if they don't have an answer for you lol

Always like to do the test with a warm engine. I like 190! Have you done the calculation for what your compression ratio should be?

Yep,,, should be around 12 to 1.

Yeah my stroked 440 is now 500ci and is about 190 if I remember correctly, but I can't seem to find my log book to double check lol.
"EDIT" I forgot to add my comp is 11.7:1

you know what; to me that sounds a little high, but i don't know the complete situation. to me, i like equality, meaning, +, -, 10%, across the board. as long as it's equeal you should be able to half *** tune it up. but, if it is 140 to 150 and 1 is 40-50, thats getting real hard to tune up. :hippy2:

Mine didn't fluctuate at all between cyl's! I was amazed at the equal readings!!! I used good rings and file fit each one to its own cyl, using a feeler guage to inspect each! Tedius process, but I think it was well worth the time spent doing it! I have used file fit rings in the past in some of our circle track cars, so the process wasn't new to me, but the brand of rings I used are.

Thats not bad at all. You know the cam will have so much to do with the cyl pressure. Yes you could have alot more with a smaller cam but then you get into what gas you want to run. Pump gas or race gas ? Is it a race car or street car. Are you having any problems with it or is it just that you wanted to know the cyl press ? Ron

Just curious.... I keep seeing posts of guys having issues,,, ANY issue, and the first responce is " what's your comp reading". I just wondered what everyones good race engines with high comp reads as a referance. As I said before, mine calculates to something like 12 to 1 so I wondered if 190 psi seemed normal with that camshaft. Im certain its fine to run,,, but have nothing to compare it to for high comp Mopar engine and the 590 Mopar cam with 1.6 ratio rockers....
