It was to get them an escort thru town without having to stop at every stoplight, stop sign, crosswalk, etc. I hear they're gonna ride anyway, and stop at every stoplight, stop sign, and so on. It'll take all day, dick-up traffic like even DC has never seen, and be a real passive-aggressive jack-fest (I do not use that as a perjorative term, I SPECIALIZE in passive/aggresive). I can't wait for the breathless news coverage from the straight press....unless they go all black-out on it and cover the "million Muslim march" instead (the most likely scenario). The permit was for the safety and convenience of the riders and citizens.

IMO, it's better without the permit. It(the permit) is nothing more than a convenience for the politicos. I hope the bikers ride in and obey every law to the letter... drive the speed limit...etc...hopefully along the same route and alongside the Muslim march at the same time.
