Has anyone made repro D O D G E letters for the 1966 Charger hood? I know Classic Industries is working on making some but they're not available yet. Note, I think 67's were different -- so these are one year only items.

Not that I know of either a 66 Charger or Coronet.
Once again, hard to find in good shape...

Saw these on ebay but I think the font is different on the 66.

But these look almost identical.

66 coronet/Charger letters are “outies” and 67 are “innies”. 67 recessed and black, 66 out and bare metal. Attached is 67.

66, 66, 67, 67
Both will fit on either hood, Coronet and Charger both years. Each “D” (DODGE) has its own part number though, not the same.

66 an 67 are different. However you could get away with the 70 Challenger ones. Center D might be different though.

I was curious about that --- if the studs would line up.

That's a new one, never thought of that. I've got an extra hood I'd like to start working on at some point for a scoop...

The 67 letters on the silver hood are mine, I make them. I can tell you the 67 letters will fit the 66 hood, but of course look different. Classic is promising to make the 66 ones, but sometimes, they just put out an ad to see if there is enough interest to make them. You may want to wait to see, but if you have even half of my luck you will settle on 67s right before Classic unveils them.

Challenger letters are not correct enough to work, the curve is too flat and looks stupid, the pins are not correct, and the height (thickness) is less. I was getting ready to make the 66s after I made the 67s but after Classic made the 67s it took all the wind out of my sails. If they pull out, I will make them.

I also make the 67 500/RT rears, and 68 rears too. And mine are made in USA!

Hope that helps a little!

I appreciate that response. This answered a lot of questions I had (do 67's fit, do Challenger letter work, etc.).

Any new information on someone making 66 Charger hood letter repros?

Well even if the pins don't line up, you could always snap them off and use the 3M emblem tape. But as I said the center "D" is probably not going to have the slight curve in it for the hood center.

The D in the middle is cast for the slight crown in the hood.

IIRC 68 Polara letters look nearly identical but don't work.

I used the 67 letters on my 66
New looks better than old and pitted
If they ever make 66 letters I will change

Also the pins are in different locations between the 2 D's.

Hi ws27. If you are who I think you are, I met you many years ago at Carlisle. I had a red 67 Coronet wagon that I made into an R/T wagon. A few years ago we met again at a Carlisle motel where we were staying. At that time, I had gold 1964 Dodge Polara 500 Converible for sale. You mentioned that you were reproducing the '67 hood and trunk letters.

Bought 67 letters from bigblockdodge67 Through eBay. Made in the USA, and I like them. I think some of the others are made offshore.
They are also selling 67 backing plate medallions for Charger and R/T seat backs.

After seeing your post, I looked up and bought the letters on your recommendation. Waiting for them to arrive in the mail.
