Hey guys,

I was replacing the axle bearings on my dana 60, and also decided to replace the axle seals as well. Upon taking the old ones out, and comparing them to the ones in the kit I got (mopar performance DCC-5249444), I noticed that the original seals were a smaller diameter than the new ones. Attempted installation of the new seals proved fruitful, as they would not fit.

Has anyone experienced this issue and found a way around it? This was the last thing I needed to do before getting the car to Carlisle next week!

The second pic shows the older seal on top of the newer one.

The 8 3/4 and Dana, should use the same seal if the Dana is a factory unit.

I thought the Dana axle shafts were a larger diameter than 8 3/4.

The old deal number should be on the old seals. Get that number and look around locally. I'll bet you can find them fairly easilly. Not sure why they're different but the issue is not why, but that they are different. So get the ones that were in there.

I ran into the same thing. Special ordered them from Autozone and they were too big for the bore so I took the old one in and compared it to their dimensions on the next offering. You do need the smaller one. I believe it was the 8695S National seal that was too big and I had to return it. Their catalog listed it for the 9.75 rear gear. I think the correct one was Duralast 481837. I found the box. The OD and ID are listed on the page for this one.
