Dana 60 Powerlock side gear upgrade

Does anyone know if you can swap out 23 spline side gears in a '70s Dana 60 Powerlock with 30 or 35 spline side gears? I've heard that the carrier case halves don't have large enough diameter holes to accept the bigger 35 spline (or even 30 spline) axles or side gears. Do you have to replace the 4 pinion mate gears and clutch rings when replacing the side gears? Any help would be appreciated.

The 23 spline carrier is different. Prior power lock units pre 1970 and sure grip 1970 and later have different spiders. THere is a guy in Las Vegas Nevada that is listed in the phone book who does alot of Dana 60's who can help you. Also this guy who is a very honest mopar guy sells parts on ebay along with posi units. call greg with dana rears 937-765-0911

Finally got to talk to Greg who does know alot about Danas and he said it's an easy swap, he's done it many times. He's in Ohio BTW.
