Changing out the 8 3/4 for a dana, got one from a racer. He had already removed the ebrake so I'm replacing the hardware and saw a note about a cable holder for the ebrake cable on the right side of a dana? Mine has a ebrake hole on the back side of the backing plate right side, does the brake cable come into the backing plate from the rear of the car? Surely this can't be! If not why do you need a cable holder? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The cable goes in just like it does with the 8 3/4 and backing plates interchange with it.

if you are putting it in an early b-body,use your original brake cables!

Thanks guys, guess I'll drill the ebrake hole in the right side backing plate that appears to be a left side one, it has the dimple, I guess the backing plates are one stamping and then depending on where the ebrake hole is determines which side it is. We should be on the road Saturday sometime with luck, ordered the ebrake hardware Monday all I need now is a little time and sharp drill bit.

A lot of people say they are interchangeable and basically, they are but unless you like having to drill out the hole for the E-brake cable, they are left and right.
