Had something strange happen today with my 62' Plymouth - after doing something a bit "strange" with it Our local car club had a small show this morning at the Rockingham Speedway just before the start of the Polar Bear 150. Our club along with a group of old vintage stock cars opened the race with a few parade laps out on the track. I think we made about 5-6 laps mostly in single file around the 1 mile oval, generally in single file and around 45-50 mph. I couldn't resist taking the old Savoy out for a few laps. My son rode with me and made a video clip of it. It was quite the experiance running around that old iconic speedway - in my 62 Savoy non-the-less. After watching many races at this track it's hard to appreciate how steep the banks are until you actually drive on it. My son had a hell of a time in the passenger seat staying on his side of the car
At any rate, after getting back home I found that I had lost some rear end oil out of the vent on top of the axle. Enough to coat my shock and tail pipe on the drivers side. I had just checked the fluid level in it a week or so back and I know for sure it was not overly full. My question - Should I be alarmed that fluid came out of the vent like this (never had it happen before) - or was it simply from going around the track with the steep 25 degree banking??? Especially at the slow speeds we were running. Its not hard to envision how the fluid would all stay to the left side of the rear end in those banks but does the fluid normally get back that far on a Dana 60 to reach the vent like that? :icon_pale:
