dana60 magnesium

Didn't the RamChargers have some made up for them 50 years ago? I haven't seen any newer versions.

If you're looking for an old one, not sure id run it. Unlike iron / steel, after a certain amount of stress cycles, magnesium becomes brittle. I'd imagine that a specialty Ram Chargers piece saw some serious 'stress cycles' lol. Just my $0.02

Winters is starting to make an Aluminume one.Going there next week. I will check on an update. winters add.jpg

wedge69 cool stuff let us know, what you find out & details/costs etc.

great point

I will get the Lowdown on it as I am going in to get my axles made and while there I will talk with the shop guy to see where there at with this unit.

Nice Winter's piece!

To the OP I did know of an NOS Ramchargers piece in south NJ.

If you are looking to buy one, PM me.

Thanks, Mark

Since this post got bumped...any new info on the Dana?

Have one in my Carlton-built prostocker. It's an original Henry's piece. Definitely lighter, and has a cool factor. I question the strength of bolt-on axle tubes.

I saw a Henry's Dana-60 Magnesium Housing Complete, someone got over on the H.A.M.B.,
don't remember who, it's really oxidized as hell & some rust on some stuff...
I like the looks of the Aluminum one better {I assume or is the center Magnesium too ?} :headbang:

If it oxidizes black.....mag. Mine wasn't that bad, but it was then blasted, tumbled, and clear powder-coated. I don't know of any aluminum ones. I believe one maker, and 2 rear covers, depending who sold them. The one you posted, has seen a rough life. Lots of brackets and welds from changes and/or repairs.
