I called Just dashes awhile ago and their prices are crazy. My gauges look good and the clock works if you snap the set shaft button.However- the chrome finish on the 64 gauges needs restoration - the vinyl on top the dash is spent- and I'm changing the interior to red instead of the original blue.Does anyone have any advice of what course of action to take.I was thinking of painting the dash in place because the windsheild is still out from the cowl repair I did.Does anyone make a custom dash or gauge panel with something like autometer round gauges? The car has a pushbutton race 727 and a 440.Thanks in advance

I 100% agree with 62max I had Glen do my gauges and rechrome the bezel. All were fantastic and look great. Won't know how any of it actually functions until next summer though.

I've left a message and E- mailed but no reply.I'll try once more. gcar must be busy

Huh that's wierd each time I've called him he picks up or at least calls me back within a day or so

I just redid this cluster I plan to put in my 63. I used the chrome spray paint and did the black by hand with small brushes. Its no the greatest but dont look to bad. Looks much better then the one in the car. Ron

I did mine the same way. Not really as nice as sending it out for re-chroming but with all the other stuff I have to do it'll have to wait. Sure looks A LOT better than the one it replaced.

Both of those clusters look damn nice!!

I've been thinking about trying to restore the bezel myself because as I understand it they're using a chrome looking urethane paint when you send them out anyway. The one's you guys did yourselves look pretty good to me

You can get good results with the chrome paint. Here is how mine turned out. I recommend practicing on some plastic scrap to see how to get it to turn out the best. The looks varies quite a bit depending on how you lay it down.

The chrome paint's pretty decent but it's not quite as nice as one that was sent out to be re-chromed. When you send them out, it's not a paint. It's called 'vacuum metalizing' where bars of aluminum are vaporized and deposited on the plastic. The whole part is then clear coated with a eurathane to protect the finish.

I tried it because I have three instrument clusters and one was worse than the next, therefore I had nothing to lose. It came out nice and I'm very happy with it. That's a few hundred bucks that can be better spent elsewhere at the moment. My only regret is that I didn't hit it with clear coat. I was afraid it might end up looking a bit 'fake' but now even with the little handling it's seen I can tell it's starting to fade slightly.

Ron, how's yours coming along? I'd like to see some pics when you get the gauges back in it.

HitIt, your cluster came out exceptional. Had me fooled for a moment.
