Dash and Steering column Finish

What do you guys th ink about finishing Sterring column and dash "metal" using Semi gloss Dupont Imron vs Powder coat? I am concerned about the surfaces having good wear and I hear mixed feelings about Powder coat. I know from experience how good Imron is.

The paint should be fine. I'd think you would have to totally strip the column to get it powder coated (wiring and all) and that's alot of work.
