Dash cap vs. Dash cover differences for my '69 Satellite

My current dash had lots of cracks in it. Until I can replace it I’m going to use a cover. When I googled it came back with two results…one for a cap and one for a cover (pictures below). Any idea what the differences are? Just what it covers?

Both are junk. Get a replacement pad.

Don’t cap it! It won’t last and will look funky, bite the bullet and pull the pad. You WILL like the final product as it will be soft and pliable and look and feel nice — like new

Spend about twice as much a get a new pad and be done with it.

Get a new pad. Covers are absolutely junk.

I bought a dash cap for my 67 and didn't use it. Gave it to a buddy not the look I was going for.
