I have two 66 Mopars, a Coronet 500 and a Barracuda. Both seem to have a similar issue, dash lights are dim. Perhaps my 2017 daily driver is just extra bright, but unless its dark outside ( I mean really dark) you would barely know they were on in either of my two classics. I replaced all the bulbs and the circuit board too, not really much help...if any at all. The dimmer knob is a little temperamental, both cars respond alike in that respect. I'm wondering:
  • Is there a brighter bulb...or possibly LED's, for these?
  • Could the light/dimmer switch be bad?
  • Something else?
If someone has a, known to be good, Coronet light switch that they want to sell please let me know. If anyone has a clue for what my next move is, let me know also.

Side note:
I was at the Carlisle event and a guest speaker mentioned a company that produced a LED version of the "standard" tail-light/blinker/marker lights, but I only caught the end of the comment. He did say that they were much brighter and cooler.

Thanks

Is the dash lighting noticeably dim while driving or mainly at idle?

I bought these on Ebay, what a difference! Other colors available too.

LEDs draw a fraction of what an incandescent does, unless you are having a major draw and lack charging, I doubt you would see a difference. Your circuit board would benefit with from the leds.

Run a separate ground wire to the dash.. It made a HUGE difference on my car
