Has anybody here ever tried fiber-glassing:eek: the dash pad foam? Considering this step... Any help and suggestions are appreciated thank you!

Thanks Ron, I checked out the link, and dont really get what he did or if he sanded it down etc. What I have in mind is to apply a thin coat of fiber glass to the dash pad, sand it smooth and painting it to match the interior of the color scheme of the interior. It would take from the flexibility of the oad but I think its gonna look nice and glossy.

I can only suggest here, im not to sure it would withstand to much, If someone would push down on it or toss something on it, im afraid it might crack on you.. Im sure you know the prices of new dash pads but have you ever gave a dash cap a thought? There not to pricey and you just glue it over the top of your pad.. This is a link i found for one if your interested at all in it at all.. Just a suggestion, i think you would be much happier..

Thats a link with one particular interior paint, read some about it, ive done it without any problems myself... You could leave the seller of this dash cap if he doesn't have your color, a note and ask him if you can with what his/hers is made from if its paintable, you can leave a message on Ebay and they will get back to you, they have with me anyway.. You may have to sign up for a Ebay registration but thats no big deal.. Im not telling you to paint it, im just saying, ive never had a problem.... Let us know whats up, maybe post up pictures of it when and if you do.. sometimes the seller does have the color your after! Good luck.

I installed a cap on a 70 gTx and painted it blue. That worked fine, and I had no problems with it except it didn't cover all the pad. There was about an inch of the windshield side top that was uncovered all the way across. So if you have any damage back there it wouldn't be covered up. Also since that's uncovered, paint the cap with it installed so the part that shows is the same color as the cap.

The attached photo shows what I'm talking about
