Folks -

Sorry for what seems like a stupid question. I have Googled the heck out of this and have invested about 2 hours digging around and can't seem to find an answer so I'd like to ask the group.

I have a 68 Roadrunner and am interested in replacing the center dash speaker. When I look through the windshield, it does not appear that there is any sort of speaker cover that can be removed. When I look through the radio bezel with the radio removed, it appears that the speaker is screwed in from the top (!). Does this mean that the entire dash has to come out to replace the front speaker? I am going for the A12 street/strip look and have fabricated a radio delete bezel and plan on using an ipod or phone with a small amp and 3.5 mm to RCA connection to my phone run under the carpet and up between the back of the split bench.

Pic of the car attached. 493 stroker 6 barrel, 4 speed. "Best of - 68 true RR, 69-1/2 A12 reproduction hood, 70 Limelight and birds.

Thanks so much for your help.
Frank

The speaker is mounted to a bracket with four screws.
The bracket in turn, is mounted to the dash with two stud like screws that point down, secured with pal nuts. You can remove the two pal nuts from underneath and take the the bracket/speaker assembly out without removing the dash.

Getting the heater hose ducting out of the way will help.

THANK YOU very much for your prompt and informative reply. This Forum rocks!
