I have a 69RR, I have the holes as we'll. I assumed that Mopar used the same dash components for other models. I would be interested if some one knows the answer to your question.
Those holes where for the optional trim that GTX ,Sport Satellite and probably high end Coronets had Road Runner did not use it but never say never i am sure if you wanted it on a RR you could have ordered it and possibly got it
The blue car is a Coronet and the red is a Satellite. They show the trim that fills the holes in your dash. There are two stainless steel end pieces and one anodized aluminum piece that runs the length of the dash between them. There may be some body plugs for RR. Seems odd to leave open holes in the dash and not the door (reference the plug below the wing window). If you have the chromed plastic trim around the instrument cluster this trim will not fit. It was an either or situation.
Yes, it is a little weird that they would leave empty holes/ I'll have to look at some other RR when the weather breaks around here….maybe the RR is supposed to have that trim as well?? Thanks so much for the photos.
Beautiful interiors btw. I just started restoring my 69 Coronet and I aspire to attain that look.[/QUOTE]
Alas, those cars are not mine. I currently have the metal dash pieces off for polishing. So, I found a couple that illustrate the point. Patience is a virtue. It'll be worth it in the end.
So do you think its possible my dash came out of a non-RR? Could Plymouth just have left the holes in plain site on RR's? Do you remember seeing the empty holes on your RR's? Thanks
