Let us not forget. 71 years ago today.
Had a great uncle die on the USS Oklahoma.
:notworthy:

if theres one place i would LOVE to visit before i leave this planet is PEARL HARBOR! from my understanding , there are still Japanese bullets from the planes still embedded in the buildings that are still standing...and the ARIZONA is to this day still belching up oil !

I was in Honolulu when I was a kid, 1972 I believe. Pearl was closed to the public for mantanance or something. Would love another shot.

I was stationed at Hickam AFB which is next to Pearl Harbor on Oahu back in the late 60s. While I was there Paramount Pictures was filming Tora Tora Tora. During our off duty hours some of the guys in my squadron and I were able to work as extras during the filming. It was an experience that I will never forget. Some of the scenes that we were in were pretty realistic. It's hard to imagine what it was like during the real attack back in 1941.
If you ever get the chance to see the Arizona Memorial don't miss it. It's a chance to say a prayer and honor the brave men that died there.

I did visit Pearl..."December 7, 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base"......I had a lump in my throat, it was an experience I will NEVER FORGET! thank you WW2 vets.

I was there for a summer... yes the oil still leaks from the Arizona memorial... it takes your breath away and puts a skip in your heartbeat. One building they have left unchanged that I saw. I was on the naval base.. Its riddled with holes from the attack... big, small.. looked like swiss cheese....

Thanks to all that served...I've been to Pearl Harbor quite a few times, I love Hawaii & Oahu/Wikiki Beach, I use to go to the NFL Pro Bowl, Every year for something like 12 years in a row, I would do the Pearl Harbor trip almost every time too, it's very humbling to be there, the USS Arizona is a true site to see, still spewing fuel/oil, I always think about the sacrifices that were made & the innocence of life that was lost there...

God bless our service men and women. Those from the greatest generation were truely American Patriots. I hope to visit there one day myself. Thanks to all those who served and those who serve today.

Couldn't find the file before. My grandfather was in the thick of it in WWII.
Harry Conley top right-hand corner. This was his squad, my grandmother gave me this after he passed.
