Story time-
this goes back to mid 70's, an early 60's corvette ,don't remember the year -think a '62 Vette,no matter.
the car in question was featured in super Chevy magazine raced by Texiera & dad family car. boasting of holding top speed. quickest ET in the vette. class, thinking B-gas or?
anywho- the article boasted of the car's performance, the speeds the ET's he bone crushing acceleration and beating all who dare to run against him. they gave the cubic inch displacement all assembly critical information that made this car a winner in class and bracket racing
they showed many pictures of the car and almost the engine close as they got was the injector stacks from the side. this car raced at Sacramento a lot and wow it had a 426 Hemi engine-they failed to mention that little factoid in the article. just as well as it was in super chevy magazine.

Yeah, I can remember when "anything" fast, up to and including top fuel dragsters, ran 426 hemi's

I worked at a shop in the mid '90's where we built quite a few cars/engines that ended up winning awards and were featured in magazines (including Car Craft Street Machine of the Year, Super Chevy best engine/best engineered, etc). Our shop was barely ever mentioned, as the owner or body shops took most of credit for car's construction. We built a '57 Nomad that was one of the first cars to have the new Vette only LT1 installed in it, and we were credited with " Helping with some wiring work". All kinds of false data in every article. Some almost comical. It even extended to the shop itself. One article stated that " All employees had a college degree ", and our boss was a " Competition winning Powerlifter ". Neither true, although both may have been direct quotes from our boss !!! Ha-ha !! To this day I barely believe a damn thing I read in car mags !

Fred Texiera had a 40 Willys B/G car and then rebodied it around 1969- 70 with a 61 Corvette. He was a frequent racer at Fremont and Sacramento.

as you can see 'a mag' behind the blower
might have been an alum. Donavan Hemi (based on the 392)
in a later rendition, I don't remember now...
He was a regular at Sac., Fremont & Sears Point
