Soon i will be starting in on my Resto-mod project on my 1974 Plymouth Satellite (318/904) and I have everything figured out except for the most important thing of all. The Engine.
My delima is, do i build a 318 or do i build a 400??

I have both motors in my posession andI was considering a 318 stroker just because it would be easier but now im not sure bc i would love to have a 500cid 600hp monster in it.
Im looking for 500-600hp on pump gas and either way im going to build a 727 to handle it all.

Comments anyone??

yeah I know they are but 318s are also. That's why I'm not sure on which to build.
If I can get reliable 500hp out of a 318 id probably go for it. I know I can get an easy 600 out of the 400.

Yes, a reliable 500 HP can be coaxed from a stroked 318. But, I'm not gunna tell you which to build, 318 or 400.

One phrase that comes to mind is "bang for the buck". And since it doesn't seem like you are restoring keep all of your options open.
