This gauge cluster looks like someone painted tiger stripes thru the middle of the cluster. Is this the way it should look?
Does anyone have a good pic to show me what a real one looks like please?

If this is wrong, how would you correct it to be close to original as possible?

:icon_confused:

Thanks in advance

Looks like mine too. Maybe not quite as " stripey". But mine definitely has the same type of bands but not as sharp.

They all all look a little crappy if it makes you feel better.

I need to do mine eventually. Meantime, I "chromed" the dial edges with foil and it took some of the attention away from the "wood" grain.

Per chance, where did you get the foil? You did a great job on that cluster.
Looks real good.

its called Bare Metal... Go to Bare-Metal.com

learned about it from a fellow member on the 75-79 section.

one thing neither the thread nor the maker tell you is that the surfaces have to be perfectly smooth to work best. The material is fairly easy to use but will telegraph any imperfections through it. I put it on mine but it had been painted previously by me and shows the brush marks from the underlying paint... I'm planning to sand and polish the edges before redoing it this weekend.

Nice work guys. Anyone for hire?

Here is mine when i was re-doing dash, i made mine a little darker but there was no stripes it just was a lighter tan before i started..

That's a really nice shot of the white-faced gauges.

Good job on that cluster. It looks sharp. 73runner, would love to see the end result.
