The one you showed in the post #1 looks like it's for an 8 3/4. Never worked on the 8 1/4 but it's built of the same design as the 9 1/4 and that rear also uses the crush sleeve like in post #2. Have you taken the 8 1/4 apart yet to see what's in it?
Right, the picture in post # 1 is the actual spacer out of my 8.25. I thought the same thing about it looking like a 8.75 spacer, I bought one hoping it would work but it was considerably larger
The one for an 8 3/4 fits good....not snug but slips over the shaft easily but doesn't have much slop and it might be 3/16" or so longer than a crushed one. Personally, I don't like them at all and replace them with a solid spacer and if one can't found in the aftermarket, I'll make one.
