Differential gurus needed

I am having a hard time finding the correct crush sleeve for my 8.25 Chrysler. I'm installing 3:55s

It's out of 1973 Plymouth satellite with a 400ci.

What is the part number for this crush sleeve.

Everywhere I have been, even summit raing has shown this as the correct part. Obviously there is a huge difference.

The one you showed in the post #1 looks like it's for an 8 3/4. Never worked on the 8 1/4 but it's built of the same design as the 9 1/4 and that rear also uses the crush sleeve like in post #2. Have you taken the 8 1/4 apart yet to see what's in it?

Right, the picture in post # 1 is the actual spacer out of my 8.25. I thought the same thing about it looking like a 8.75 spacer, I bought one hoping it would work but it was considerably larger

It's going to be larger.... you have to crush it until you get the right preload

Which sucks to do if you don't have the right tools.....

Yes, it was larger in diameter and length. No amount of crushing would make it fit

The one for an 8 3/4 fits good....not snug but slips over the shaft easily but doesn't have much slop and it might be 3/16" or so longer than a crushed one. Personally, I don't like them at all and replace them with a solid spacer and if one can't found in the aftermarket, I'll make one.
