Disc brake conversion - Anyone tried this kit?

After an almost unanimous recommendation on this forum I went with Dr Diff. Just started the project and the progress is slow. I'm in a little over my head.

2 wheel or 4 wheel?

I did upgraded as well. Just take it one step at a time. If you've ever done much with brakes then your capable.

How far along are you?

Well......it's taken me about 8 hours to pull the drum and get the disc spindle installed on one side.

I've done brake jobs. Mostly just pads and rotors. My dad helped me do drum brakes on my coronet back in the late 1970s.

I can turn a wrench, but never performed much steering and suspension work. I probably spent two or three hours today trying to get the proper torque with the cotter pin hole to align with the castle nut.....and that was just three castle nuts.

Hopefully the other side will go faster.

I've been curious about some of those ebay kits too.

It states OEM spindles. Maybe all mopar parts too. 14" wheel compatability? Seller has 100%. Price is right...

Same curiosity here, especially about the spindles as they seem to be the most critical part to be reproduced correctly to specs. Is there more than one manufacturer for spindles or do all the kit vendors, ebay, Dr Diff, Ramman, PirateJack, etc, source the spindles from the same place? Calipers, rotors, bearings might be different but I think the spindle is the most critical part for a drum to disc conversion. That is why I am considering the SSBC kit as it uses the original drum spindle with a disc adapter.

Good decision.

I too wanted SSBC, but could never get information on rear mount for 14 inch wheels. The support emails were poorly written and basically said I need to buy the kit and test fit.
So far, Dr Diff has been great with the information and support.

What I don't like about ssbc is the Chevy style master it just drives me nuts as Efficient as it is

I believe most all of the kits use the GM late model master cylinder including my Dr Diff kit.
