I recently installed disc brakes on my 1964 Dodge Polara. This has been a very frustrating build. Starting with the issue with the vehicle having a factory sway bar and having to go with rear mount calipers. The kit I got was from The Ram Man which basically uses reproduction 1976 Dodge/Plymouth parts. I have the brakes installed, but when I apply them I get a grinding noise kind of like when the pads are worn out. The sound continues after I'm done braking for a while so something is hanging up. My question is should the caliper also slide on the supports? It appears the retainers for the caliper are wedging themselves in rather than just keeping the caliper in place. But, I'm new to disc brake deal. Any help would be appreciated.

The caliper is fixed along wtth the outside pad. The inside pad is what moves. You may need to file the tangs on the pad to let move more freely.

Single piston calipers? Yeah, they have to float. Can you take pics of them?

I will take some pictures tonight and post. I'm going to pull the calipers and remove the pads and then re-install the calipers without the pads to see if they are actually floating. Yes they are single piston floating calipers. I had to swap the spindles left to right when I went to the rear mount. The Ram Man sent me the correct "rear mount" calipers so the bleeder is at the top.
