Buy a Utilitech 7000 lumens LED bar light from the Lowes, add a strap and Bob's your Uncle. $31.48 bucks with veterans discount. Other lights specifically designed for under the hood costs a whole bunch more.
I have 4 bright LED shop lights on the ceiling of my garage so its pretty bright for general work. But it's a bit shadowy under the hood. This light is bright enough to perform surgery under. But it's not too bright and it doesn't get hot.
The light is constructed of metal with a plastic diffuser. Short cord; maybe 6 feet.
Photo 1 is just garage lighting. Photo 2 adds the under hood light.
