do i need a clutch for my fan?

sorry another question, I own a 69 roadrunner that does not have a clutch fan. its bolted directly to the water pump via the pulley. my current project (another 69 rr) has a cheapo flex fan I`m looking to replace did my car come with a clutch fan? any part numbers out there for a direct mount fan, I cannot see a number on my other cars fan without taking it off! thanks for any help...….again.

also just as well add this question. I`m certain I do not have a sure grip since only one wheel turns when I turn one side, however the other side doesn't move either when I do one side, shouldn't the other side turn opposite way? don't know much about this car been sitting for 40 years. just trying to get stuff fixed before my engine gets back...……..that's another story though. I found yesterday I got a boat anchor for a block....anybody close to iowa with a 383 for a 4 speed??
 
I don't think my 68 RR had a fan clutch but don't remember for sure
On the rear end the drive shaft in probably turning when you turn one wheel and the other wheel isn't turning -- if the drive shaft or the opposite wheel doesn't turn when you turn one wheel you got something broke in the diff
 
If you go to a clutch, you will need a matching fan, they are different from a fixed fan .
As for the rear, with an open, if you lock in gear, park or in gear with a 4sp, turning one tire, the other will go the opposite direction . If the trans isn't locked, or isn't there, turning one tire will turn the pinion shaft, not the other tire. With a sure grip, assuming it's in good shape, both tires turn the same direction, and the pinion gear/driveshaft must turn too.

ah!!! trans is out makes sence now thanks any idea of a part number for a fixed fan?
 
Sorry, can't help there, but there are some REAL smart people here that can help. My 69 runner has a clutch, and my 62 has a cheap plastic flex fan. It eats horsepower, but it keeps 500hp cool.
 
There’s a thread somewhere on the Hayden Clutch Fan. The best. 2 lengths available for clearance.
 
There will be many opinions. What size of rad? Our son ran his 67 383 Charger in stop and go traffic through Kansas City back in 1991. Temperature was 104F. No over heating problems.
22 inch rad that we had 3 cored.
Block had been flushed
Fan was the same as the clutch fan, but has the smaller hole. Number also ends in 216 I believe.
I can look up the number tomorrow if someone doesn’t answer today.

26" radiator
 
No clutch on my '69 (22" radiator). No problems with it, but I would suggest a fan shroud.
 
I had a clutch on my 68 GTX. Would think it the same for a 383 Bird....

I have a non clutch fan I'm not going to use contact me if you are interested. You will need a spacer of an unknown thickness (measure the location)
and appropriate bolts and washers.
