On my 1969 project engine my donor motor (1970) came with electronic ignition, do I have to change the engine wiring harness as the other motor did not have electronic ignition? thanks much CD:headbang:

You will need to get a ign module and the wire harness (at least the plug) retrofit your current configuration. This is assuming the ign your refering to is a Mopar unit.
You could also purchase an aftermarket system and follow the directions for wiring in the unit.

Thank you for your help.

so I dont have to buy a new engine harness just the one for the module? Is that wiring piece available just about any where or who would you suggest I get one from, I assume it would come with instructions on how to hook up?
thanks CD.:toothy5:

mancini has the harness.

I may have one to part with if you haven't already got one. I bought a conversion kit for my 66 Satellite. There are too many splices in my original harness so I'm going to buy a complete conversion forward harness from Year One. I'll have to use an electronic voltage regulator and a newer alternator as well but it's a good upgrade. I have the instructions from the kit. (Mopar)

You don't really need "a harness." All you really need is the ECU connector, which should also have the distributor connector (the two terminal, looks like a trailer connector.) You can easily wire the rest, and we can help you

You need to either find out whether "the box" you are going to use is "4 pin" (most new ones) or the older 5 pin design, or else wire for a 4 pin ballast, which will then accept either 4 or 5 terminal ECU

You can NOT tell a 4 from 5 pin ECU by looking always. Some "4 pin" ECUs actually HAVE 5 pins, but the 5th pin is not hooked to anything. Only way to tell is with an ohmeter.

Very easy to hook up. Get your harness/ connectors and post back

The diagrams for 5/4 pin ECUs:

Older 5 pin. Note the upside down "U" in the bottom of the resistor block in the photo. The resistor MUST be hooked up that way

Newer 4 pin: Don't even have to change your original ballast resistor

thank you so much, for your help guys

Really, I will buy the connector and let you know what happens, much appreciation. thanks again..:headbang:
