Just a warning, do not conduct business with Rob at Midwest Performance Products in Diller Nebraska. He sells questionable quality parts, does not stand behind his work or the parts he sells.
The Pro Comp CNC castings are pretty nice, the valves, springs etc. he installed are JUNK! The springs are weak, the seat pressures are not close to consistent, the valves are VERY soft. He claims they came from Hughes Performance, if this is true, I don't have much faith in their parts either.

This is not a case of getting what you pay for, I specifically had him build them up for a roller set up, he knew exactly what I needed for my application.

I had under 20 passes on them since new.

My local machinest is fixing them, going to run all Isky components in them now. This is going to cost me a minimum of $1200 to do this but I will end up with a killer set of heads in the long run.

My recommendation is to get a bare set of the Pro Comp CNC castings and have your local shop build them with high quality parts. It may cost a little more to start with but the end product will be much better.

What didn't he stand behind? I got stuff from him and had NO trouble at all! I had a rocker roller pin go bad and he sent me two more in return just to make sure I got the correct one... "There are two different offset directions".
I have spent a fair amount of time on the phone with him talking about this or that with combinations and he has never blown me off....
Boy I hope you can work it out, whatever is going on!
A side note,,,, My heads didn't come from him but are of the same brand as yours and I can say that mine do NOT have junk valves in them! They are stainless with the undercut stem and I actualy bent two of them pretty good without either of them so much as even begining to crack or break through! I purchased Manley stainless to go back in, and the fit is perfect!

He was a nice enough guy but there are some serious issues with the parts he uses. I know they are race parts but I asked him to upgrade from the Procomp valves/springs and he suggested Hughes for use in a higher HP roller motor (700 hp). Nothing ever saw over 6400 rpm, no valve contact either.

Seems like everyone that has a solid or hyd. set up has had no major problems, but you have to run much higher spring pressures for a roller. The valves were not sealing whatsoever which goes to problems on the install by him (weak springs bouncing the valves around and the angles on the valves not matching up with the seats). There was also a coil bind issue we found after tearing apart the heads, this is pretty basic stuff for most any machine shop. He knew the cam specs.

The only compenation offered was I could buy the exact same parts (or Pro Comp) at his cost. I already have about $1800 in the heads not counting the new repairs that now need to be done. I am not about to run more of the same parts in these heads. I will be well over $3000 in these heads by the time they are repaired properly.

I also had a couple of the Pro Comp rockers break. This could have been caused by inferior parts or maybe the coil bind issue. I do not recommend them. I am running the Hughes rockers, they are better quality than the Pro Comps. I am going to keep a very close eye on the Hughes rockers after the issues with the valves and springs.

Hmm,,,
I wonder if the Hughes valves had the wrong angle? When I put the Manley valves in mine they look perfect after I checked them with lapping compound. I guess what I'm getting at, is that if one is off it's probably the valve itself. At least I would think so, because I doubt he removed the seats from the heads, and mine are right on from the factory! I guess if he re-ground the seats that could do it, but I don't know why he would have. I know he does get alot of his stuff from Hughes, so I don't think you need to worry about the truth of that. I had a camshaft recently fail that had already been used and looked great, but I put new Hughes lifters on it and Wammo,,, Lobes disapeared! I don't know why it happened, but this was first experiance with Hughes stuff! I went ahead and got a new cam from Mopar "590 lift" and a new set of lifters "EDM" type, broke in the cam and haven't had trouble yet. My rockers are holding up fine right now,,, I'll keep an eye on them for a while though! I plan on keeping my foot light on the pedal for a few miles just to see how things work together then I'll start bringing things up slowly!

Yep, He got me too. I have had a few issues with the heads I got from him. I have 6 runs on them. Rocker came loose on #6 and bent a pushrod. Got it all back together and started it up. It just didn't sound right. Come to find out the #2 cylinder wasn't firing. I did alot of chasing my tail to find the real issue. I have a dime size hole in the intake runner. He did a full port/polish to them but made the wall to thin. I ran my finger in the other intake runners and I feel alot of burs almost like they are getting ready to break though also.

I just found this issue so I haven't gotten in touch with him yet. I really doubt that he is going to stand behind them though. Even though I only have 6 runs on the car I bought them last Feb.

I wonder how much Aluminum is going for at the recycle center?

Yea buddy

:headbang:After chasing your tail with you,I went and got a 30pak.Should have aluminum patch kit ready tonight.Oh yeah thanks for Hi-Po 4spd repair kit.Maybe you could sell one to Rob I'm just saying.
