I know they promote rust but I'm asking for your views on vinyl tops from an aesthetic perspective. I like the black top on my silver '69 Charger, but its the '71 I have my doubts about. The '71 is Hemi Orange and it had a black full vinyl top. I see some pictures with the half vinyl top. Not sure I like that either.

Just google 1971 Orange Charger and you'll see all the options.

Depends on the colours; I think blue looks nice with a white top, silver looks good with black but some colour combinations don't turn out so well.

well

I really don't like the half vinyl top. I don't like the full vinyl top on a 71 as much as on a 69, but I do think it makes it look a little more like a gentleman's car. Personally I think it looks nice on this one.

I know we aren't talking about green cars, but I've always liked black vinyl tops on dark green cars.

our 70 super bee will be dk. green body with a green vinyl top, green interior and green side stripe this an all #'s matching 383 4speed car that has been in a barn since 1973 we are starting to restore it NO rust

I think it really depends on color & options too

I like it on some cars & not on others, I'm fickled...LOL

on the SE's I like it, RT's & Super Bees, I'm torn

I would usually say no vinyl tops, but it really depends on other factors...

They look alright except for the rust factor. May I ask if the chrome/stainless windshield chrome is a different part number for 71-74 B Body cars without factory vinyl roof?

Never been a big fan of vinyl tops. They look ok on some car/color combinations, but I think that they look better without. A lot of people that bought cars with vinyl tops back in those days didn't know that they required extra maintenance so they ended up fading or peeling. Every once in a while I still see an old car with a clapped out vinyl top that looks like somebody took a cheese grater to it.

If the factory originally put it on, then yes. I want the girl in the Add.

i have a vinyl top on my '69 r/t. it came that way and still has the original top. having said all this i don't really care for them.

i like this in vinyl!...and that is final =! :icon_sunny::icon_sunny:

Years ago I read that all superbirds had vinyl because the rough surface provided greater high speed stability. I remember them comparing it to the dimples on a golf ball. Since then I have been all in on vinyl tops; if it's good enough for The King, it's good enough for me.

This is only triple green but it matches an old fridge I had.View attachment 307590:thebirdman:

Lol as it happens, I had a stove and oven combination that matched your car nicely.
