Does anyone have any ideas on how or what to use to clean the lens on one of these dome lights, Has anyone ever painted one where it looks ok? Ive tried a lot of different cleaners, i hate to buy a new one the shipping is terrible and i havent even looked up a new one. We all seem to come up with little tricks or things to do things like this so im hoping someone else can tell me a cleaner, when its on it looks almost like a amber bulb! Maybe there's no way out of a new one but had to ask.. Thanks.

try the headlight restoration products... 3M has a good one that uses a very fine sandpaper to remove blemishes and then comes back with a polish to purdy it up...

Thanks fellas, Im going to get that kit, ill try that first.. I really don't want to buy a new one if i can make this one look presentable.. If i had to order a bunch of things i would just get one new but hopefully this will work cause it really looks crappy!

Those dome light lens can be had brand new for uner 15$ money well spend IMO
Rtspecialties has them iirc

Thought I had a extra one sitting around - that you could have- Ill keep a eye ball out for you bud-

I know the dome lights are fairly priced, im just trying not to if i can get away with it. 7 years i said
"only" when i needed parts, i did the work myself and i know im not a pro, and i don't intend to get rid of this car, when im not around someone else can. but that "only" adds up i found out keeping all my paper work in this car, they only appraised this at 8000 and i have getting close to that in it and i would never get it back or who ever sells it when im not around, i don't know market values on these cars like most but i think i wouldn't want to see the offer for a 73 Satty, and i did the work myself, if i paid to get it done, it was a stupid move. I really do appreciate you all just trying to help, i may just buy one and be done with it, im sure i wont be sorry, there is always things we learn to fix things like this, it was worth a shot anyway. im going to try that kit.. cant lose but "only" a couple more dollars.. just wokke up to raing day thats making legs feel like there in a lathe so i hope i didnt say any offending words here.

I'd say go for it on the 3M kit, but in my experience, the plastic on the dome light covers gets extremely brittle with age, almost crumbling.

Man I have seen them online for less than ten bucks and some of those dealers have free shipping also.
After you spend 4 to 6 bucks on supplies what is your time worth. I do clean, refurbush, paint or polish every part I can.
Hell I've four or five hours polishing 39 yr old sill plates, but really for that part? Hell i'll buy a new one and send you mine, but ups would probably charge more than $10 to get it there.
Man that part ain't worth the work.
If you need a source hit me up, I spend bunches of time wandering parts vendors on line.
But in order for me to give one a plug they must prove they are not only as good as...but better than the rest.
Best to ya
