Dome light and map light 68 charger

I have a 68 charger most of the wiring is new but a I have a problem with the dome and map light. The dome light works occasionally with the driver door but usually works with the passenger door. I have a console and the only time the console lights work with the door is if the headlights are on, I have considered this may be correct?? The map light seems to have a mind of its on and sometimes comes on with headlights or if the doors are opened. I recently put in a refurbished dimmer switch thinking that would solve my problem but I still have it. I have a wiring diagram it seems all these elements are tied together at some point but I haven't figured out what is happening.

Sounds more like a bad drivers door jam switch for some of your issues.

Took the door switch out the yellow wire attached shows to be a ground when apply power the console lights come on. Similar yellow wire unattached with the same male plug beside it has twelve volts when I ground it the dome light comes on. Witch wire should be plugged into the door switch?

I would have to look at a wiring diagram. I don't think 2 connector door jamb switches came out until 69 but if you have 2 wires maybe that's what you need. I don't know.

A thought- make sure you have correct bulbs in all the spots. Seen this too many times.

I believe the yellows are switched grounds. As Mike said above. heck the door switch, see if maybe a prong broke off - or someone swapped around your main wire harness to something later, or it's a late build 68?

You are correct the yellow wires to the door switches are switched ground to positive and I had the wrong wire connected to the left hand door switch. I have corrected that and the dome light works with both doors however I have a yellow wire on the drivers side that goes to the console that has a male plug on it like the door switches that I have no place to plug and I know it goes to the console lights because when I put a positive current to it they light up. I cant find where to plug it in I hope somebody can enlighten me.

If I remember correctly, in 69 the console plug runs under the carpet to the drivers kick panel. Your answer may lie there.
