Been having a problem with my driver's door for some time. Several times it has closed and then refuses to open, I can finally open it by kicking
it but don't want to break the door card. My question is how do you line up the catch on the b post to the lock mechanism on the door. I can't figure
out how to get them aligned. Also the toothed gear on the door frequently does not seem to turn when closing. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

It's a trial and error type thing. Can be frustrating. Can you post pics of the latch and striker?

First, check that all the screws/bolts on the lock & striker are rock-solid tight (they can get loose). Then PB Blaster the heck out of the lock mechanism. Finally, grease it up really well (I used red grease, but I’m not sure that’s the best choice?). Then as said above, trial & error. Also, you might check to see if your door hinges are worn/sagging…Charger doors are heavy

PB Blaster is some good stuff.

I push and hold the button while closing the door to check adjustment and alignment. If it drags , it needs lubed and/or adjusted.

Went out and played around with the alignment a little, pulled it toward the outside as much as possible and it seems to be working fine. Closes smooth and solid sounding. Maybe I just lucked out. Gonna try it for a week or so without door card on and see how all goes. Thanks for all the help. Will report back in a week or so. Charger Ted

What kind of shape are the door hinges in? If they are a little "long in the tooth", a.k.a. old and tired they will contribute to door sag and contribute to latch / striker issues.
