This past weekend, my wife and I made up our usual batch of fruitcakes, plus my son dropped in to give a hand. Our recipe makes 11 little cakes at a time. And everyone asks for them. And they have walnuts and pecans in them, but they get stored in the freezer.

Door stop :lol: :rofl: you got that right
My Grammie was a great cook she made a German version,
"with Pecans & Walnuts" like a garnish, pushed into it, for lack of a better term
I loved her version, I don't love fruit cake
it was great if you had it fresh or day maybe 2 days old, alamode
kid of got gooey after a couple day, taste bad when it's put in the refrigerator
& hard as a brick
we'd also do some fruit cocktail, dressing over it
that is fermented in a big jar & added to regularly, good stuff
a couple scoops over it, nice & moist & tasty

but;
it didn't have a bunch of preservatives
& sitting on a shelf for days/weeks or months

I won't eat the mass produced stuff
Grammie's been dead for 30 years so I haven't had any good fruit cake

the name Fruit Cake is a total turn-off too
