I ran the weatherstrip around the drivers door and now the door doesn't want to close all the way.

Is it that the rubber is to stiff?

Has anyone else had issues after installing these weatherstrips?

I think the weatherstrips are all the same. Not positive though.

Don't laugh at the drivers seat. :icon_butt:

How do you explain the waffle prints on your butt to the wifey?:icon_butt::toothy5:

A friend had the same problem with new weatherstrip on his pickup. He put new one's on and they required you to "slam" the door to get it to shut. After a month or so they finally settled down.

Park it outside on a hot day!

Joe they are very tough at the beginning but will compress where needed in a while. My doors still take a pretty good shove to close.

I did notice your seam is at the bottoms at the door sill. I did my seam in the upper corner at the roof and b pillar post. Cutting it at a 45 degree angle and joining it up there allows it to bunch up less. That would be the only thing that I did differently, but like I said my doors are still pretty tight to close.

i agree. Its a little stiff to start with. A door slammer to start with.
Only change i would have made also would have been to move the joint
somewhere where it wont snag on your shoe or hand when you enter the
car. Looks good. Where did you get the weatherstrip?

The weather strip came with the car. I figured that was a good spot for the joint as the inside section will be covered by the inside sill. The rubber on the outer section comes together nicely.

dont sweat it. its normal for the door to be hard to close for awhile. just give it time and when it gets warm out, it wil not be an issue and the door will close fine.

You have to remember the old weatherstrip is 45 + years old... likely pretty compressed. If you have worked on or painted the car in that time then the door latch was probably adjusted to close and fit the original weatherstrip. It may be necessary to readjust the door latch to better fit the new, stiffer weatherstrip and avoid the need to "slam" the door... which can be hell on internal door parts. This is a simple procedure. This also is true of new trunk lid weatherstrips.
