Door won't lock with lock knob attached.

Door will only lock when I have this part removed from the locking mechanism through the door skin. If it's attached, it gets stuck halfway down the locking process and I can just open the door as though it weren't even locked. Is there a way to adjust the lock so this doesn't happen?

Many new reproductions are two big in diameter, and/or you have some nice new chrome rings in the holes ther restrict how far it can lower into the hole.
