Our racing complex in Denver has been Bandimere Speedway for the last 65 years. As Denver grew more and more homes were being built closer and closer to the track. Obviously the government wants the tax dollars new homes can bring in. So Bandimere was forced out. I hope they got a billion dollars in recompense! The rumor is they have bought land way out east near Hudson, CO. A much longer drive but at least they are not gone.

The cool part of the old track was the geology made for a natural grandstand. The second time the Rockies erupted they tilted the flat sandstones creating a perfect natural area for seating.

Our local drag strip is built on a peat swamp......forever sinking into the mire.

There are very pronounced undulations along the track.
The fence at the end leads to an absolute swamp....so it pays not to over-shoot the second quarter.

This is how it looked 35 years ago......it is way worse now.
