Drive shaft fit ?

I have a 68 coronet. It came with a 318 & a 904. I have changed it out to a 383 & 727. I have also replaced the rear end, with a 742. I bought a yolk, which measures approx 7 1/2 " from center to end. I still need a drive shaft. I found one for sale. It came from a 69 bee, with a 440 & 727. What do i need to check, to see if this drive shaft will work ? Or am i better off having one made ? Thanks guys .

So, i asked the owner to measure it. He says its 51 1/2, but that it was out of a 69 bee, with a 440 & 727. Why the difference ? Could the 69 bee have had a smaller rear end? Am i missing something ?

51.5 center to center is roadrunner.,....will work fine .....just check your u joint sizes......If you want a drive shaft I may have a true 52 inch dodge

The important thing is to get the yoke 3/4" - 1" from being bottomed in the transmission...then get the u-joint center-to-center measurement. Have the car supported by the suspension when you measure too(unless you're narrow enough to do it with the car on the ground!)

Thanks, i was wondering how much slack to allow in the yoke, when measuring.

I have a 51.5 roadrunner driveshaft in my 69 superbee....1/2 inch not big deal.....12 years and 5000 miles later no problems on my end

Hi guys. Life got in the way for a moment, but i finally put my yoke on, with approx 1/2" - 3/4" from bottoming out, and measured center to center. I measure only 50 1/2". Is this because my yoke is too long ? Should i find a shorter yoke ?

How are you measuring? 52.07" center to center ("A" below) is correct for your car.

Here is a pic the guy sent. This is from a 69 superbee 383/ 727. Rear unknown. It measures just over 51" center to center.
