the driveshaft on my 74 rr is welded(u joints??)?can i use the same shaft with new u joint?can i unweld and weld the new one in?thanks

sorry this makes no sense at all. maybe a picture and arrow would help. The crossmember is the bracket frame to frane that supports the trans. Nothing should be welded on your driveshaft but the yokes that hold the u joints.

sorry not the crossmembers the u joints....the u joints and welded up on one side.....

yeah its welded on the driveshaft (one side (where it does not go onto the car....just took the driveshaft out now .....ill try to get a picture up tommorow
Ive never seen u-joints welded in. can you post a pic?

You need a new shaft, they welded the joints to the weld yokes because the joint caps were spinning in the weld yoke.

Get a new shaft and then upgrade to AL and gain some more performance and mpg.
