The first sticky in this thread instructs you to cut 4 1/8 inches from your 904 driveshaft when replacing the 904 with a 727 (I have the correct 727 slip yoke). The car is not readily available for me to double check the measurement from the rear end to the transmission. Has anyone just went ahead and shortened the driveshaft by 4 1/8 inches? Any problems in doing so? Thanks

Measure it before you have and added expense, take your slip yoke and bottom it out in the trans, measure center of joint to center of joint at the diff at ride height bring that to your local driveline shop tell them the measurement was done with the slip bottomed out and they'll make the adjustments based on your slip yoke

Something to look out for is some or all of the mopar drive shafts are filled with rubber end to end. It makes it very difficult to cut and shorten them apperently. I bought a shaft and took it to a proffesional drive line shop and they cut the slip side of the shaft to shorten it and they could not weld it back together because all the rubber in it. Could just be me but look into it so you dint waist money.

Almost all the detroit shafts had the inner shaft and rubber inside, and it's not filled in the entire shaft it is usually at one end and usually it's at the diff side. That can also be removed it's usually around 9" or so of rubber and tube
