purchased a driveshaft at a mopar meet recently hoping it was a big block shaft can someone tell me the correct
driveshaft length as well as yoke length, the u joints and yoke are still attached. Its for 72 Charger 440.

Measurement should be in the service manual. You can also look up the tail shaft clearance needed, and if it's the right # of splines on the yoke.
Or, just slap it up there, and see if it fits. Just make sure you have that clearance.

I believe there the same length the one for the 727 trans will have a none spined spot then splines the one for 904's are splined the hole way in the slip yoke. I can measure if needed as I have the 440 car and a 340 car and 2 318 cars so could be a fun thing to check .
But almost 100% sure as long as you have a 727 shaft it will fit as the small blocks are moved farther back to make up the length

Ok, i ordered a 72 manual and I havent looked at the yoke splines, on this new driveshaft, its diameter is larger but seems to be and inch shorter and the yoke length appears to be 1.5 inches longer. I will look at the yokes splines when i get to the house later tonight.
