Hello,

I've got a very, very, very BASIC question but I have no idea what the answer is. Whenever I do the swap over from a slant-six to a 383, I know I'll need a new K-frame, which I have, but will the driveshaft need to be shortened and rebalanced? Like I said, newbie question, but I figured all you guys might know.

You need not a new K-frame, (http://www.engine-swaps.com/) .... but since you have a big block K frame and I'm figuring you'll use it no matter what I say......

Yes, the driveshaft will need to be shortened and not balanceing it is crazy. Ifthe shop that did the work didn't do it, I'd be liable for wacking there head with the driveshaft.

The /6 shaft is most likely a smaller diameter too....I recommend finding a V8 unit or having a new one made up.

Gotcha. Thanks so much! The work hasn't been done yet, and if I had a shop do it that didn't balance the driveshaft, I would most certainly be whacking someone upside the head with it. :)
