I dropped the 3” headpipe and 3” 50 series Flowmaster off the Coronet

Left the tailpipes hanging there

3-1/2"
18" collector

Went from summertime

1.58-1.59

11.33-11.38 @117+

To

1.55-1.56

11.14 @ 119.3

Had to jet up from 86/90 to 86/95, plugs still white going to 88/96

Now have a stumble off idle

Tried smaller and bigger shooters as well as green and blue pump cam

30cc front

Having to take stock springs out of distributor and go to lightweight springs to see if that rids of stumble off line

Two tenths and two mph is roughly what we pick up dropping the exhaust on my '69 496 Road Runner. Haven't tried it with the new motor yet, but that improvement should put me into the ten's! Time will tell.

A part of me was hoping there wasnt going to be any real change. I still street drive it, and can't with open exhaust.

So i'm looking at better flowing mufflers. And perhaps a 3-1/2" headpipe leading to the mufflers?

Electric cutouts open it up at will...
