I currently have 11" drums on 8 1/4 rear-end. Was wondering if I could transfer my drums to an 8 3/4 rearend?

Whilst I have you attention, how much different would a 1967 coronet rear end (shackles, leaf springs) location be from a 1973 charger?

the Coronet rear end comes with housing - axles but no pig. I'll most likely buy one what size gear should I look for? 360-727 I live on an island and the top speed limit is 50mph what do you suggest?

This is my everyday driver.

Thanks,

Jake

1. Yes
2. Totally different, way to short in overall length, to include springs too short, but shackles should be ok.
3. 3.23 will be just fine since you cant legally drive faster than 50. But.......3.91's will allow that stop light to stop light distance to become very FUN!!!

If it is truly too short, that may be to my advantage. I've been wanting to throw some fatties on the back, but the axle and leaf springs are in the way. I have about 17 inches from fender to inner wheel well. With the smaller axle I should still be able to move the shackles and leaf springs to accomade the new axle. Has anyone on here tried to do that? It's a 1973 charger.

I do have the frame rails running to the trunk and should easily be able to put the leaf springs on them?

11" brakes are somewhat common on the 9 1/4 but I've never seen any on the 8 1/4. If you're looking for something that really moves off the line, go with even more gear! Ran a 4.56 in my 71 340 Cuda for awhile and it was sure fun lol however 50 is about all you want to cruise with that.

There are islands in South Carolina?

Yup, Hilton Head island is one of them. Nice place to live btw.

I looked at my rear end, and the 8 1/4 does have 11" drums, and my 9 1/4 has 13 inch drums? Am I Measuring this correctly? Seems pretty normal to me?

I used to live on Kiawah Island and also James Island, and Wadmalaw Island during Hurricane Hugo. Don't have any info on what u asked but good luck.

Never seen 13" drums on a car axle in a Chrysler product you must be measuring wrong.

The correct way to measure is the INSIDE diameter of the drum. I have never heard of a 13" drum in any car.
