Am thinking of going with a dry sump system but can't figure out where to install the oil tank. Any racers out there using a dry sump system?

I think NHRA rules just state that it cannot be from the firewall back (would be considered as 'liquid ballast').

closer makes the plumbing & lines expenses somewhat cheaper too

a dry-sump system is already expensive enough

I used a couple of them on an altered & a
Top-Sportsman, Pro-Gas, Outlaw P/S type cars,
sorry no photos of them installed,
they were installed above the lowest point of the pump too,
on the passenger side of the cars, kept the pluming & lines minimal &
less unnecessary added weight too...

When you get a vacuum pump & a dry sump {to the front of the engine},
then your filters, alternator, water-pump, pulleys, plumbing, belts etc.
in the engine compartment it really starts to take up any extra room
the spindles for the drives are a consideration also, room in-front of the crankshaft

Peterson Fluid Systems http://www.petersonfluidsys.com/index.html
makes a nice combo dry-sump & vacuum pump combined {stackable/stage units}

Most any company that make them, do the same things, that's their specialty
they can/will make custom tanks to your spec.'s or help you to find one that will work...

there's all kinds of sizes & shapes of tanks,
you may need to make/fabricate your own if you can't find something that will work

my altered was a tank next to my fuel tank Same shape smaller size,
like the F/C 's have, it was an older style Moroso system,
the other tanks in bodied cars,
were spun alum. 2 gal. {8qt.} to 2-1/2 gal.+ {10-12qt.} tanks
usually mounted to the radiator support or
an on ear of a motor plate usually, away from heat & moving parts,
still able to access stuff, without having to remove every thing to service stuff...

there are infinite ways to build & mount tanks & styles/ways to drive them too
remotely or off the cam front or back, off the crank, off the belts etc.

god luck
