Hi

Can you tell me if I numbered this cap correctly for the spark plug wires. Couldn't find it in shop manual

On my 66 Hemi dual point I have #1 where you have #8 Just CW of the cap clip. But I would need to do some checking to verify that’s as intended by Chrysler. My vacuum can with about 15 deg advance points to the driver side at almost a perfect right angle to the cars centerline.

Paul both diagrams you posted in your other thread are correct.
if you installed the cam gear dot at 6 and the crank gear at 12 oclock.
Got #1 piston up on compression stroke and balancer line at tdc. Oil drive / cam gear slot is pointing front to back.
When you install the distributor the rotor should point to # 1.
If your not on compression stroke and have your line at tdc the rotor will point at #6

Ok

All of that was done but when i put in the distributor in the slot of the intermediate gear the rotor its not pointing at #1. Its off.
If I rotate the slot on the intermediate shaft a little ( it wont be aligned with came shaft) then the rotor will point at 1

One thing is that some dual point distributor shafts have the bottom lug clocked differently as compares to single point and possibly electronic distributors. Halifaxhops knows more specifics. So depending on your distributor and its shaft that instruction to orient the slot in the oil pump/ dist drive gear with the cars centerline might not apply. You just have to set it so the distributor is oriented how you want and #1 plug wire terminal corresponds to the rotor direction when on no. 1 at top of compression stroke.

You should probably static time the engine. to make sure where #1 starts. Pull #1 plug. stick you finger in the plug hole and turn the engine over until it blows your finger out. #1 on the balancer should be close. Align it to 10° before TDC, pull the cap and start the firing order where the rotor is pointing to.
